James Leonard Alexander, the son of the late Robert Franklin Alexander and the late Martha Fisher Alexander, was born September 8, 1899 at Morris Chapel, Tenn. He died June 21, 1986 at Steele, Mo., at the age of 86. He was married to Cora Hughes.
He leaves four sons, James Alexander and Bill Alexander, both of Springfield, Mass., Pauline Alexander and Wayne Alexander, both of Cooter, Mo.; one daughter, Carrie Nell Vandiver of Lakeland, Fla.; one sister, Georgia Crowder of Memphis, Tenn.; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Two sons preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were J.W. Neil, Gary Crum, Donnie Hinklin, Hooper Azbill, Bobby Robinson and Ray Pugh.
Services were held Monday, June 23, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Tim Abanathy and Mr. Walter Lumpkin officiating.
Burial was at Number Eight Cemetery near Cooter.
Arrangements were by German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele.
