Henry Rayburn Alexander died at his home in this city on Friday, September 3, at the age of 72 years, five months and ten days. He was born March 23, 1876 at Cerro Gordo, Tenn. moving to this state in January of 1924.
On March 5, 1902, he was married to Veretta Florence Thompson and five children were born to them, three of whom survive. The family lived in the south part of the county and Mr. Alexander was in business at various times in Steele, New Survey and Ingram Ridge. In 1947 he sold his business and retired, due to ill health and since that time has made his home in Caruthersville. He was a member of the Baptist church at Steele.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Frakes of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Pat Woods of Case Grande, Ariz. and Mrs. Ralph Ennis of this city; five grandchildren, Joe Frakes, Gilbert Ennis, Larry, Patricia and Walter Woods; and one brother, J.W. Alexander of St. Louis.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist church in this city at three o'clock Saturday afternoon, with the Rev. Floyd Brower and Rev. D.K. Foster conducting the rites. Interment was in Mount Zion cemetery near Steele, with LaForge service.

Services were held at First Baptist Church for Mrs. Vertie Florence Alexander, 83, who died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, April 20. The Rev. Marvin Niblack officiated and burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with Dean Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Jackson, Tenn. June 3, 1885. She lived in the Steele area for many years before moving to Caruthersville.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Irene) Ennis of Memphis, Mrs. Alice Franks of Coco Beach, Fla. and Mrs. Fern Woods of Longdale, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Tina ? of Jackson and five grandchildren.
