Homer Alexander, a long-time Steele resident, died December 10, 1985 after a brief illness. He was born April 15, 1904 in Jackson, Tennessee. He was the son of the late Robert F. and Ardella Copeland Alexander. Mr. Alexander died at Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville at age 81.
He was married to Alice H. Thornton, who preceded him in death. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and of the Odd Fellows lodge. A retired painter and carpenter, Mr. Alexander was a former employee of Huffman Bros. Lumber co. In recent years he was an active member of the Retired Senior Volunteers Program, assisting with the lunch program.
Services were from First Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 11, 1985 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Billy Skinner conducted the service.
Mr. Alexander leaves two daughters: Jane Allbritton of Steele and Martha Hughes, of Jackson, Mo. He leaves eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Steele, with the German-Aumon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Joe Samford, Howard Burns, Clarence Poteet, Arthur Alford, Johnny Carter and Hobart Poteet.

Funeral services were held September 8, 1978 at the First Baptist Church in Steele for Mrs. Alice Alexander, 69. The Rev. James F. McCrary officiated.

Mrs. Alexander was born November 23, 1908 at Greenfield, Ark. and died September 6, at her home in steele. She was a Rebekah and a member of First Baptist Church here.

She leaves her husband, Homer Alexander, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Jane Allbritton of Steele and Mrs. Martha Hughes of Jackson, Mo. She also leaves eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Vester Gossett, Thelbert Bishop, Robert Nicholas, Earl Hawkins, Joe Samford, and Lewis Rogers.

Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with the German Aumon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
