Funeral services for W.D. Fowler, 77-year-old farmer of the Culbertson community, just south of Holland, were held Monday morning at 9 o'clock from the Sacred Heart Church of Caruthersille. The services were conducted by the Rev. Fr. P.J. Doyle, pastor. Interment was in the Number Eight cemetery at Cooter.
Mr. Fowler died Friday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. R.E.L. Smith, of Holland. He had been in ill health for the past five years.
He had lived near Holland since 1875, when the family moved there from Louisiana when he was a child.
Mr. Fowler is survived by one son, Quincy Fowler of Memphis, two daughters, Mrs. R.E.L. Smith of Holland and Miss Amanda Fowler of California, and one brother, Charles Fowler, also of California.

Holland, Mo.-Funeral services were held Monday morning for W.D. Fowler, pioneer settler of Pemiscot County, who died Friday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R.E.L. Smith of Culbertson community, after a five year illness. The services were held at the Sacred Heart Church in Caruthersville nine o'clock by Father Doyle and interment was in No. 8 cemetery near Cooter at eleven o'clock.
Mr. Fowler who was 77 years of age was born in Indiana, but moved here in 1875 and had lived near Cooter and Holland until his death. He had been manager of the Culbertson farm for the past twenty-six years and was one of the most active citizens in the south end of the county and added much to its development.
Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Smith, and family, also a son Quincey Fowler of Memphis; a sister, Miss Amanda Fowler, and a brother, Charlie Fowler, both of California; also sixteen grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren.
