Mr. Lee Roy Fowler, Sr., 76, died Tuesday, April 15, 1986 in Memphis.

Born in Brilliant, Ala., he was the son of the late Harmon and Mary Elizabeth Ashmore Fowler.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 18, 1986 at 3:30 p.m. at German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Vernon Reese and Rev. Sherel Jetton officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery near Steele.

Pallbearers were Harold Cooperman, Joe King, Ray Parson, Wayne Murphy, Reginald Watkins and Larry Fisher.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Luvenia Batley Fowler; five sons: Robert Lewis Fowler of Frankfort, Ky., Lee Roy Fowler, Jr., of Steele, Jerry Wayne Fowler of Cooter, and William Ray Fowler and Charles Louis Fowler, both of St. Louis; a daughter, Nora Elizabeth Fowler of Steele; a sister, Ethel Bates of Brilliant, Ala.; and seven grandchildren.

Luvenia Fowler, 84, of Steele, died Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti.

Born March 28, 1926 in Leroy, Ala., she is the daughter of the late Robert Batley and Nora Goldman Batley.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Fowler, one sister, Marie Wynn, three brothers: Wesley, Charles and Clarence Batley; and one granddaughter.

Luvenia was united in marriage with Lee Roy Fowler. He preceded her in death.

She worked for the Garment Factory in Steele. Later she worked for Borg Warner and Acco in Blytheville, Ark.

Mrs. Fowler leaves two sons: Lee Roy Fowler, Jr., and Lisa of Steele and Jerry Fowler and Kay of Cooter; one daughter, Nora Fowler, of Rutherford, Tenn.; three sisters: Pearlie Goforth of Hazel Green, Ala., Nora Carr of Kennett and Arminda Buys of Jefferson City; four brothers: Robert Batley of Farmington, New Mexico, William Batley of Delphi, Ind., Ray Batley of Jackson, Mo., and Jimmy Carol Batley of Norman, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Fowler were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 29 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Dr. Terri Brassfield officiating.

Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele.

Pallbearers were Chris Fowler, Keith Morgan, Thomas Raidt, Jimmy Carr, Terry Scott and Gary Abernathy.
