Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele for Mrs. Nora Fowler who died Nov. 30 at the Ridgeview Nursing Home in Malden, Mo. The Rev. Claude Stone officiated.
Born August 12, 1887, at Jackson, Tenn., Mrs. Fowler had lived near Holland until recently. Her husband, Oscar Fowler, preceded her in death in 1936. Mrs. Fowler, who was 82 at the time of her death, was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William A. Bumpus.
She leaves five sons: Elbert Fowler of Detroit, Wilton Fowler of Steele, Clovis Fowler of Blytheville, Cecil Fowler of Blytheville, and Paul Fowler of Steele; also two daughters, Mrs. Elma Hall of Luxora, Ark. and Mrs. Doris Burnham of Blytheville; one brother, Walter Bumpus of Bradenton, Fla. and one sister, Mrs. Florence Graham of Steele. She also leaves nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Burial was in Number Eight Cemetery with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.

Oscar Fowler, one of the most prominent farmers of this end of the county, died in the Blytheville Hospital Sunday morning after a week's illness of influenza and pneumonia. It was believed he had symptoms of spinal meningitis. He had been in the hospital only a few days. He was born and reared in this county and has been a member of the Baptist Church for several years. He was born on August 28, 1887, and died at the age of 48 years, 9 months and 11 days. He had taken active part in the development of this county.
Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock by the Rev. D.K. Foster, pastor of the Baptist church of Caruthersville, with interment being made in the Mr. Zion cemetery.
Besides his wife he is survived by several children, brothers and sisters.
