Andrew J. (Jack) Crawford, Circuit Court Clerk of Pemiscot County, Mo., died Tuesday, December 10, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
Born January 17, 1927, he was the son of the late Andrew Crawford and Lula Funderburk Crawford. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Montana Crawford Whitfield.
Upon his graduation from Steele High Schol, he was drafted into the Army and served in Germany and Austria. After his discharge from the Army, he returned to Steele where he was a farmer and cotton gin manager.
Jack was united in marriage to Norma Williams on October 10, 1953.
For the past 23 and one-half years he served as Pemiscot County Circuit Clerk, and was a member of the Circuit Court Clerk's Association. He was also a past member of the South Pemiscot School Board, the Pemiscot County Farm Bureau Board, the Hayti Hospital Board and the Board of the Southern Cotton Ginners Association.
Mr. Crawford leaves his wife, Norma Crawford, of Steele; two sons: Andy Crawford of Little Rock, Ark., and Jim Crawford and his wife Linda of Steele, and three grandsons: Drew Crawford of Columbia, Mo., Kyle Crawford and Dustin Crawford of Steele.
Funeral services for Mr. Crawford were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2002, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. John Frame officiating. David Kelley and Judge Byron Luber delivered eulogies. Burial was at Mt Zion Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Kyle Crawford, Dustin Crawford, Drew Crawford, Brad Williams, Chris Williams, and Al Rorie.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the R-3 Cancer Fund.
