Funeral service for Mrs. Minnie L. Cunningham was held Thursday, May 15, 1980, at the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in Steele. Rev, Paul York officiated. Mrs. Cunningham was born July 9, 1887 at Dyer, Tenn. and died May 13, 1980 at the River Oaks Nursing home in Steele at the age of 92. She was the daughter of the late Jack Shumake and Charity Manning Shoemake.
She was united in marriage to Charley Crawford at Caruthersville in 1905. To this union was born seven children. Her husband and three of her children preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cunningham was united in marriage to Lee Cunningham December 3, 1951 at Blytheville. Mr. Cunningham died November 7, 1968.
She came to this area from Tennessee before the turn of the century. She was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and of the Rebekah Lodge.
Mrs. Cunningham leaves two sons, C.M. "Buddy" Crawford of Jackson, Tenn. and Elmer Crawford of Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Knight of Chino, Calif. and Mrs. Mittie Pfeffer of Steele; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Olan Johnson, Ralph Ketchum, David Whitfield, Howard Burns, James Guthrie, and Wilburn Clark.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Charley Merrett Crawford, who passed away October 16, 1948 were conducted Monday afternoon at the Methodist church by the Rev. Marvin Niblack, pastor.
Mr. Crawford, a farmer, had lived in this community for 48 years. He was very active in his work until he suffered a stroke in July from which he never completely recovered. He was admitted to the Walls Hospital in Blytheville, Arkansas, October 9, 1948 for the second time since he became ill and died there one day after his 69th birthday.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Minnie Crawford, two sons, Charles M. Crawford of Jackson, Tenn., and Elmer Crawford of Steele; two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Knight and Mrs. Mittie Pfeffer of Steele; Three brothers, Andrew of Steele, John of Braggadocio, Frank of Cooter; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Sales of Bragg City, and Mrs. Mack Woodward of Wentzville, Mo.
Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with German Undertaking Co. in charge. Pallbearers were Modern Woodmen.
