Mar 31, 1915
Daughter of Samuel and Emily (Wolford) Hughes. She married Franklin Ellis 17 Apr 1842 in Illinois.

Mrs. Mary Ellis died at the home of her son, J.S. Ellis, on Elk Creek, on Monday night, March 15, 1915, after being sick for ten weeks with some trouble of the stomach and other complications.
Sister Ellis was born in Tennessee October 9, 1823. She was converted to Christ at an early age and lived a consistent christian life.
We have heard her so many times testify to the goodness and mercy of God and she so often expressed her willingness to go to Him whenever He saw fit to take her. Her greatest earthly pleasure was in going to church and bearing some humble part in the owrhsip of God.
Her life during her sickness was such an example of patience. She bore her long suffering without a murmur and seemed perfectly resigned to God's will at all times. When the end came she went without a struggle and just seemed to fall asleep in Jesus.
"Dear old Grandma, how we miss you,
In the silent grave's embrace;
But your memory shall be cherished,

Mary Ellis died at the age of 91-5-20 of intestinal nephritis. She was a widow living in Cass township, Texas county, Missouri at the time of her death. D. C. Bledsoe of Cabool, Missouri was the informant on her death record.
