James Welton Dodd, 78, of Steele, died Saturday, September 5, 2009 in Blytheville, Ark.
Born March 20, 1931 in Yuma, Tenn., he is the son of the late Buford Dodd and Lida Todd Dodd.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Denver Dodd, and one granddaughter, Angela Kay Dodd.
Welton served his country in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith.
He owned a trucking company for many years.
Mr. Dodd leaves one daughter, Tammy Clowers and her husband Danny, of Blytheville, Ark.; two sons: Tom Dodd of Fort Worth, Texas and Michael Dodd and his wife Jeannie of Seattle, Wash.; one sister, Ruth Pierce, of Steele; and one grandson, Brandon Myers and his wife Lauren, of St. Louis.
Graveside services for Mr. Dodd were held at 9:30 a.m., Monday September 7, 2009 at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating.
Powell Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of services.
