Melvin Eugene Kelley, 59, of Braggadocio, died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at his home.

Born September 27, 1950 in Tiptonville, Tenn., he is the son of the late James Levi Kelley and Nella Staggs Kelley.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers: Sandy Kelley, Junior Kelley, and Mart Staggs; and two sisters: Sue Austin and Margaret King.

Melvin was united in marriage to Jacqueline Stogsdale on May 16, 1974 in Granite City, Ill.

He served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam. He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Kelley leaves his wife, Jackie Kelley, of the home; one son, Martin Kelley, of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters: Hope Alvarado of Houston, Texas, Christina Scroggins of Midland, Texas and Pamela Ings of Braggadocio; four brothers: Henry "Colton" Kelley of Braggadocio, James R. Kelley of Cardwell, Thomas Kelley of Alexander, La., and Chester Kelley of Hayti; four sisters: Billie Jo Castell of Kennett, Mary Rodgers of Memphis, Barbara Clay of Pascola and Pat Wilcox of Caruthersville; and six grandchildren: Justin and Destiny Thompson, Buddy, Jacob, and Samuel Scroggins, and Ashley Ings.

Funeral services for Mr. Kelley were at 2 p.m., Monday, August 9, at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glyn Davis officiating.

Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery near Steele.
