James Levi Kelley, 78, of Wardell, formerly of Steele, died Jan. 11, 1991 at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital. Born Feb. 9, 1912 in Reagan, Tenn., he was the son of John and Bertha Scarbrough Kelley. He was a farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nella Staggs Kelley of Wardell; six sons, Junior Kelley of Gobler, Cotton and Chester Kelley, both of Wardell, J.R. Kelley of Steele, Tommy Kelley of Alexandria, La., and Melvin Kelley of Cape Girardeau; five daughters, Mrs. Allie Sue Austin of Sardis, Tenn., Mrs. Billie Jo Casteel of Cooter, Mrs. Mary Rodgers of Jacksonville, Ark., Mrs. Bobbie Jean Clay of Hayti and Mrs. Patricia Kelley of Braggadocio; 31 grandchildren and 62 great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Mart Staggs and Sandra Kelley, and one daughter, Margaret McCaig, preceded him in death.

Services were Jan. 13, 1991 at 2 p.m. at Bradshaw German-Aumon Funeral Home chapel in Steele, the Rev. Bill Luttrell officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Paulice Alexander, Gene Rodgers, Glenn Cannon, Bill Pearson, Bobby Clay and Terry Austin.

Nella Kelley, 88, of Braggadocio, Mo., died Sunday, September 15, 2002 at Twin Rivers Medical Center in Kennett, Mo.

Born February 16, 1914 in Perry County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Sherman Staggs and Nancy Ham Staggs.

She was also preceded in death by two sons: Mart Staggs, Jr., and Walter (Sandy) Kelley, and one daughter, Margaret King.

She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

Nella was united in marriage to James Levi Kelley, on March 5, 1930 in Decaturville, Tenn. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Kelley leaves six sons; Junior Kelley of Wardell, Mo., Henry (Cotton) Kelley of Braggadocio, J. R. Kelley of Steele, Mo., Tommy Kelley of Alexandria, La., Melvin Kelley of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Chester Kelley of Caruthersville, Mo.; five daughters; Sue Austin of Sardis, Tenn., Billie Joe Casteel and Patricia Wilcox of Braggadocio, Mary Rodgers of Memphis, Tenn., and Bobbie Jean (Barbara) Clay of Pascola, Mo.; 72 grandchildren; 70 great grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Kelley were held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 18, 2002, at the Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. David Boyd officiating.

Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with Bradshaw-Powell Funeral Home of Steele in charge.

Pallbearers were Bill Pearson, Glenn Cannon, Tommy Swafford, Jesse Swafford, James Kelley, Martin Kelley, T. J. Collins, Roger King, and Tom Lebo.
