Kirby Daniel Wilson, 56, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Monday, December 29, 2003, in Cape Girardeau.
Born September 8, 1947 in Holland, Mo., he was the son of the late A.C. (Alsey) Wilson and Viola Scott Wilson.
He attended and graduated from South Pemiscot Schools in Steele and completd four years of study at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.
He served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1965, serving until 1971.
His military dcorations and awards included the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the U.S. Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the U.S. Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, the Vietnam Bronze Star, the Vietnam Armed Forces Gallantry Cross with Bronze Star, and the U.S. Air Force Silver Star.
Unon completion of his military career, he began working as an insurance adjuster for the SAFECO Insurance Company, where he had worked for the past 25 years in and around the St. Louis and Cape Girardeau region.
He was a member of the V.F.W., and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Pacific, Mo.
Mr. Wilson leaves one son, Kirby Daniel Wilson Jr., of St. Louis; One daughter, Kendra Wilson, of St. Louis; One sister, Peggy Wilson, of Steele, Mo.; One brother, Scotty Wilson and his wife Linda, of Webb City, Mo.; One niece, Brooke Wilson, of Texas; and One nephew, Brandon Wilson, of Oklahoma.
Funeral services for Mr. Wilson were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2004, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Mr. Wally Scaife officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
Pallbearers were Rob Crader, Kenneth Gibbons, Gordon Payne, Richard Nave, Bob Nelson, Mike Jordan, Robert Raines, Dave Grummer, and Joe Clark.
