Peggy Wilson or "Squirt" as she was affectionately known by family and friends, 77, of Steele, died Monday, July 25, 2011 at her home.
She is the daughter of the late Viola and Alsey Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kirby Wilson.
After graduating from Holland High School in 1954, she attended a business college in Memphis, Tenn., and worked for the Memphis Press Scimitar. Her greatest love was children who stand as her legacy. They were a major part of her life as evidenced by their pictures on all of the walls of her home. She was especially proud of her nieces and nephews: Kirby Daniel Junior of St. Louis; Brandon, his wife Andrea and their daughter, Bella, of Lee's Summit, Mo.; Kendra and her husband Tom of St. Louis, Mo., and Brooke and her husband Costas and children: George, Sam and Ellie of Los Angeles, Calif.
In addition, the children she helped care for became her extended family. They are Jeanna and Ashley Clark, Ashley and Galen's children, Hallie and Layton Robinson, and Trent, son of Debbie and Gary Sanders. Peggy's church family was also vital to her. She was a member of the Samford Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Miss Wilson were held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 29, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. John Mundy and Mr. John Smith officiating.
Burial was at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were Stanley Northern, Brandon Wilson, J.R. Wilson, Galen Robinson, Bobby Ketchum and Steve Worrell.
