Don Eugene Barnard, 71, of Senath Heritage Center, died Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Senath Heritage Center.

Born February 17, 1940, in Pemiscot County, he is the son of the late Dewey Barnard and Lottie Connell Barnard. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny C. Barnard, Verlon "Rip" Barnard and Dewey William Barnard and one sister, Bonnie Harding.

He attended Steele High School and was employed as a butcher. He also worked at Borg Warner, Milwaukee Tool, and C & B Coach in Blytheville, Ark.

Mr. Barnard leaves one son, Don Eugene Barnard, Jr., of Walnut Ridge, Ark.; one daughter, Dione Barnard, of Caruthersville; one brother, Merlon "Doe" Barnard, of Steele; one sister, Mary Thelma Stanfield, of Kingston, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Melissa Rucker, of Wauchula, Fla.; and three great-grandsons: Bryce, Blake and Braxton Rucker of Wauchula.

Funeral services for Mr. Barnard were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Charles Clark officiating.

Burial was at the Barnard Cemetery in Denton.

Pallbearers were Carl Barnard, Jr., Bill Stanfield, Dewey Barnard, III, Verlon Barnard, Raymond Puckett and Darren Wilkins.
