A resident of this area since before the turn of the century, Dewey William Barnard, died last week at his home in Denton.

Mr. Barnard was born February 11, 189 at Denton. He died August 15, 1979, at the age of 80 years, six months and four days.

Services were held Saturday, August 18, 1979 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the German Aumon Funeral Home in Steele with Robert E. Cowles officiating.

Burial was in Barnard Cemetery at Denton.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lottie Connell Barnard, of the home; two daughters: Mary Thelma Stanfield of Kingston, Tenn., and Bonnie Harding of Nashville; four sons: Johnnie C. Barnard of La Habra, Calif.; Dewey Barnard, Jr., of Troy, Tenn.; and Merlon and Don Barnard of Steele; four sisters: Vioa Chestnut, Detroit; Viola Chestnut, Detroit; Virgie Vied, Malden; Edith Wigg, Marks, Miss.; and Ernie Morton of Rockford, Ill.; a brother, Walter Barnard of Steele.

A son, Verlon "Rip" Barnard, preceded him in death July 1, 1978.

Mr. Barnard leaves 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons: Verlon Barnard, Mark Stanfield, John Harding, Donald Eugene Barnard, Bill Stanfield, and William Eugene Barnard.

Arrangements were by German-Aumon Funeral Home of Steele.

Lottie Marbeth Barnard, the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Vinnia Elizabeth White Connell, was born September 17, 1900, at Denton, Mo. and died June 11, 1986, at Blytheville, Ark., at the age of 85.
On November 18, 1918, she was married to Dewey William Barnard at Blytheville. After 60 years of marriage, Mr. Barnard preceded her in death on August 15, 1979.
When she was three months old, her father died and she was raised by her stepfather, George Martin.
She leaves two daughters: Mary Thelma Stanfield of Kingston, Tenn., and Bonnie Harding of Nashville, Tenn.; four sons: Johnnie C. Barnard of La Habra, Cal.; Dewey Barnard Jr. of Troy, Tenn.; Don Barnard and Merlon "Doe" Barnard, both of Steele; Two half-sisters: Bessie Martin Robinson of Indiana and Donnie Martin Sanford of Denton, Mo.; 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two infant children and one son, Verlon C. "Rip" Barnard.
Pallbearers were William M. Stanfield, Mark Stanfield, Verlon Barnard, Joe Allen Barnard, Eugene Barnard, Dewey Barnard III, and Don Barnard Jr.
Services were at the Church of Christ, Steele, Friday June 13, 1986, at 2 p.m.
Mr. Mark Raulerson officiated.
Burial was at Barnard Cemetery, Denton, Mo., with arrangements by German-Aumon Funeral Home.
