Son of Elvin Daly and Mamie Elizabeth Hunter Collins
Jackie Warren "Big Jack" Collins, 68, West Plains, departed this life at 11 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains.
He was born Jan. 11, 1941, at West Plains, Mo., to Elvin D. and Bessie Hunter Collins. Mr. Collins attended school in Howell County, Mo., and moved to California in 1960. He was employed as a roofer until 1972 and currently was employed at the Public Water Supply District #2, having worked there for 20 years. On Oct. 3, 1958, he was married at West Plains, Mo., to Faye Pliler; they celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2008.
Mr. Collins was a very kind, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was important to him and he always took care of everyone.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Collins, of the family home; three grandchildren, Derek Collins, wife, Danielle, Chris Collins and friend, Heather Bennett and Jacklyn Dawn, of the family home; great-grandchildren, Bricen, Braden, Brenton, Cole and Emily; a brother, Jerry Collins, and wife, Carla; a special "adopted" daughter, Sarah Collins, of the family home; an aunt, Darlene Collins; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Young, husband, Jessie and Karin Collins; four brothers-in-law, Ted and Brenda Pliler, Bill and Lois Ellison, Dallas and Ruby Pliler and Gary and Bev Pliler; several nieces and nephews; and many friends, patrons and co-workers of the Public Water Supply District #2.
His grandparents, parents, one son, Darrell Lee Collins, two brothers, Jimmie Collins and Leonard Collins and one sister, Judy Smith, precede him in death.
Friends and neighbors may sign a register book at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
