Funeral services for Eldon Thomas Collins, 83, West Plains, Missouri, will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2011, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains, MO.
Mr. Collins died at 6:50 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2011, at his home.
He was born December 1, 1928, at Garfield, Kansas, to William "Bill" and Ella Collins. On April 10, 1954, he was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Hazel Louise Bunch, who preceded him in death on April 12, 2003.
Mr. Collins was a veteran having served with the United States Army (Company H, 19th Infantry Regiment, Korea & Japan 1951-52).
He was in law enforcement from 1953 to 1975. Mr. Collins was the Chief of Police for the West Plains Police Department the last nineteen years of his career.
He is survived by two sisters, Deloris Brotherton, husband, Norman and Rita Roper, both of West Plains, Missouri; one brother, Clifford Collins, Willow Springs, Missouri; sister-in-law Grace Collins, West Plains, Missouri and a host of nieces and nephews.
His parents, wife, two brothers, Melvin Collins and Gene Collins, precede him in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St, West Plains, MO. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church building fund and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
