Funeral services for Loranzo Duane Brown, 88, of West Plains, Mo., were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Calvary General Baptist Church of West Plains. Brother Bill Bales and Brother Jim Johnson officiated, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home in West Plains. He was born the son of the late Loranzo Dow Brown and Della Beeler Brown on April 23, 1919, in St. James, Mo., and died Nov. 17 in Springfield, Mo. He was united in marriage Oct. 10, 1939, in Alton, Mo., to Mary Katherine Barnum, who preceded him in death Aug. 9, 1997. He was later united in marriage Feb. 16, 1999, in Mountain Grove, Mo., to Thelma Wallace. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Wallace Brown, of the home, West Plains; two sons, Doyle Brown and wife Barbara of West Plains, and Curtis Brown and wife Paula of West Plains; one step-daughter, Meredith Brandy of Kimberling City, Mo.; four grandchildren, Jason Brown of West Plains, Jodi Morrison and husband Brian of West Plains, Kevin Brown of Denver, Colo., Stephanie Pritchett and husband Jim of Rolla, Mo.; two stepgrandchildren, Michael Kinnaird family of Phoenix, Ariz., and Lona Farrell of Springfield, Mo.; seven great grandchildren, Tabitha Brown and Zachary Brown of West Plains, Afton Morrison of West Plains, Hannah, Joshua, Loran, and Jessica Pritchett, all of Rolla, Mo. His first wife, Mary Katherine Barnum Brown; his parents, Loranzo Dow Brown and Della Beeler Brown; one brother, Harold Raymond Brown; and one sister, Vera Mae Roark, preceded him in death. He was a member and deacon of Calvary General Baptist Church of West Plains. He also owned and operated the family business, Brown Furniture, for many years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons and can be left at the funeral home. Family visitation was from 7 until 8 p.m., Monday, November 19 at Carter Funeral Home in West Plains. Burial is to be held in Oak Lawn Cemetery in West Plains, under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc., in West Plains.
