Funeral services for Mr. Walter Newton Holly, 68, were held Wednesday, Aaugust 22, 1984, at the John w. German Funeral Home in Steele with the Rev. Jim Doyle officiating.
Mr. Holly was born September 7, 1915, in Steele and died August 20, 1984 at Veteran's Medical Center in Memphis. He was the son of the late P.H. Holly and Nora E. Hutchins Holly.
Mr. Holly was a retired Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict serving a total of 23 years. He was awarded three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.
He leaves one brother, Robert Holly of Steele; One sister, Mrs. Helen Maclin of Steele; Five nieces; Mrs. Sue Glass of St. Louis, Mrs. Peggy Martin of Kennett, Mrs. Imogene Keaton of Hollywood, Fla., Mrs. Earnestine Hood of St. Louis, and Mrs. Ramona Blessing of St. Louis; And three nephews: Robert Curtis Holly of Memphis, Tommy Thompson of Texas and William Earl Holly of Caruthersville.
Burial was in the Holly Cemetery in Steele. John W. German Funeral Home in Steele was in charge.
