Walter N. Holly, 89, of Cooter, Mo. died Wednesday, October 11, 1978, at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti. He was born in Madison County, Tenn. and brought to Pemiscot County by his parents, M.A. and Nannie Holly, at the age of three. A brother, David Bennett, was born after the family moved to Cooter.
Mr. Holly was reared in Pemiscot County, and attended schools in Cooter, Caruthersville, and Jackson Military Academy in Jackson, Mo. He attended one year at Washington University in St. Louis, where he studied law.
He was a merchant, and a ginner and in time accumulated extensive farming interest in and around Cooter. He was a staunch advocate of the Democratic Party and a member of the Holly Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Smith officiating and Rev. James McCrary assisting. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with German-Aumon Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs. Holly, a son, Joe Byron, his only brother, D. Ben, and two grandchildren, Nita and Walt Lester, preceded him in death.
Walter Newton Holly leaves a son, Robert Buell Holly of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Frame and Mrs. Bethel Frame of Steele; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Services were held Monday, May 29, 1978, at the Holly Grove Baptist Church, in Cooter, Rev. Joe Smith and Rev. James F. McCrary conducted the service at 2:30 p.m.
Mrs. Holly was born February 25, 1889 and died May 27, 1978.
She leaves her husband, Walter N. Holly of Cooter; one son, Buell Holly of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Frame of Steele and Mrs. Bethel Frame of Cooter, a son, Joe Byron Holly Sr., preceded her in death. She also leaves four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. Five sisters, Mrs. Mayme Pinion and Mrs. Allie Bowman of Caruthersville, Mrs. Joe Holly of Cooter, Mrs. Hazel Thweatt of Houston, Tx. and Mrs. Jessie Mead of Memphis; two brothers, Fred and Robert Pierce, both of Caruthersville.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery with German-Aumon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
