Jessie Howard King, 66, of Holcomb, formerly of Steele, died July 2, 1979 at his residence.
He was born in Steele April 4, 1913, the son of Johnny and Nora L. Whittington King.
On September 3, 1938, Mr. King was married to Hazel L. Buys, who survives.
He also leaves two sons: Terry Wayne King, of St. Louis and Timmy King of the home; six daughters: Nora Whipple, Kirkwood, Johnnie Lou King of the home; Glenda Provast, Gibson; Joan Kay, Bland, Mo.; Debbie Ann Andrews, Brentwood; Crystal Diane King of the home; three sisters: Ruie Bailey, St. Louis, Isabell Dyar, Lamont, Calif., Lavada Cook, St. Louis; and eight grandchildren.
Services were set for yesterday, Wednesday, July 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Boyd Funeral Home in Kennett. Rev. Clifford Rice was to officiate with burial in Mount Zion Cemetery near Steele.

Mrs. Hazel Louise King, 75, of Kennett, Mo., died Friday, April 11, 1997, at Piggott, Ark.
Born February 18, 1922 at Steele, Mo., her parents were Percy Buys and Fronia Tiner.
On September 3, 1938 at Kennett, Mo. she was united in marriage with Mr. Jessie King. He preceded her in death on July 4, 1979.
One sister, Catherine Buys; two brothers: Harry Lee Buys, and Eston Buys; three sons: John Michael King, Howard Lee King, and David King; and one daughter, Jessie Sue King, also preceded her in death.
Of the Baptist faith, she was a nurses aide.
Mrs. King leaves six daughters: Nora Whipple of St. Charles, Mo., Johnnie Lou King and Glenda Provorse, both of Campbell, Mo., Joan Kay Ware, of Jefferson City, Mo., Debbie Andrews of Webster Groves, Mo., and Crystal Payne of Imperial Mo.; two sons: Timothy King of Kennett and Terry king of Maryland Heights, Mo.; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. King were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 14, 1997, at Landess Funeral Chapel in Campbell with Rev. Cecil Keller officiating.
Burial was at Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele with arrangements by Landess Funeral Home, Inc. of Campbell.
