JAN 22, 1903: Died, at her home one mile east of Newtonia, on Thursday, January 15, 1903, Mrs. Sarah A. Brown, wife of the late George I. Brown, aged 69 years, 11 months, and 14 days. Her husband died but a few months ago. The two had been married about fifty years. Mrs. Brown's maiden name was Baynham. She was a woman highly esteemed by everyone, and was one of the oldest citizens of this part of the county. She was a Christian woman of noble character. She leaves in sorrow three sons, D.C., Dr. W.D. , Addison H. Brown, two little motherless granddaughters, twins, one little grandson, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held from the family residence on Saturday, conducted by Reb. R.J. Kyle. The remains were interred in the family burying ground. JAN 29, 1903: Obituary -- Mrs. Sarah A. Brown - Sister Sarah A. Brown was born in Callaway county, Mo., Feb. 1, 1834. She was the daughter and only child to the first union of her father, Wm. G. Baynham. She was married to George I. Brown, of Newtonia, Newton Co, Mo. In 1856, to which union were born five children, one daughter and four sons. Sister Brown died at her home one mile and a half east of Newtonia Jan. 12, 1903, at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 14 days. Three half sisters and one half brother viz: Mrs. Sue Strong of Pomona, Call, Mrs. Bettie Bliss and Mrs. Mary DeGroff of Carthage, Mo., and William G. Baynham of Diamond, Mo., Three sons and three grandchildren, viz: Dr. W.D. Brown, D.C. Brown, A. H. Brown, and Justin, one of Dr. Brown, Sallie and Georgia, daughters of D.C. Brown, survive to mourn their loss. Two half sister, three half brothers, an infant daughter and her husband having preceded her to the other world. George I, Brown, her husband, having died about 9 months ago. Sister Brown professed faith in Christ about ten years ago, joined the M. E. Church, South and lived a Christian the remainder of her life. She died a peaceful death and now rests in possession of the saints reward. Her sufferings, sorrows, and troubles are past and past forever. God bless her loved ones, who linger upon the shores of tie and bring them at last to himself on the other side for: "Over the river loved one pass from day to day, To realms immortal bear our hearts away; O the sweet reunions just beyond the silent tide, O the songs of welcome, on the other side." Funeral services for Mrs. Naomi Patton,62 years old,Granby,Route 2,who died at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Cardswell Memorial Hospital in Stella were held at 2 p.pm. Tuesday in the Wanda Methodist Church. The Rev.Houston Tracy officated and was assisted by the Rev. Paul Patton.
Mrs Patton was born February 4,1905,Granby,Route 2 and had lived here all her life.
She is survied by a daughter, Miss Mary Patton of the home; a son, George Patton, stationed with the U.S.army in Germany; a sister Erma Brown, Granby, Route 2; a brother Bill Brown, Granby Route 2 and a granddaughter.
Burial:December 19, 1967, Brown Family Cemetery.
