Bessie May Spencer, 76 of the Shockey Trailer Court, Kirksville, died at 8:45 Saturday morning January 10, 1987 in the Kirksville Osteopathic Medical Center where she had been a patient since December 30, 1986.
Born July 16, 1910 in Omaha, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Lincoln and Dolly Johansen Thompson. On August 19, 1929 at Bloomfield, Iowa she was maried to Ben Hobart Spencer who preceded her in death on January 17, 1977. Also preceding her in death was one sister, Anna Bell O'Neill.
Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Clay (Daisy) Kerby of 602 N. Elson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In October 1919, Mrs. Spencer moved with her parents from the state of Iowa to Adair County. She received her education in Adair County schools. After their marriage, she and her husband were engaged in farming in the Brashear community. Following their retirement they moved into Brashear. Mrs. Spencer resided for a short time in LaPlata before moving to Kirksville a year ago.
She was a member of the Brashear Community Bible Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon January 13, 1987 in the Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel. The Rev. Beryl Cragg of Kahoka will officiate. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery at Gibbs, Missouri.
