Funeral services were held at German Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, Oct 17, 1965, for Delmar Davis, 65, who died October 15 at the Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Davis had lived in this community all his life, and will be remembered by a countless number of people as their school bus driver. He drove a school bus to the Denton and New Survey areas shortly after those schools consolidated with the Steele system and continued at this job until his health forced him to retire.
Rev. Marvin Niblack, assisted by Rev. Charles Miller, officiated at the services Sunday.
Mr. Davis leaves his wife, Mrs. Thelma Davis of Steele; two sons, Johnnie and Delmar Wayne of the home; one sister, Mrs. Freddie Collins of Caruthersville; one step-brother, Cecil Campbell of Steele; and one step-sister, Mrs. Ludie Ray of Steele.
Pall bearers were Clarence Poteet, Willie D. McDaniel, Robert Weaver, Jr., Cecil Barnes, D. M. Weaver, and Lester Graham.
Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery with German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
