Virgil Irby Davis, 62 year old Steele barber, died suddenly here May 11, 1966 after suffering a heart attack. He had lived in this community 48 years and was well known as a barber. He also operated the Greyhound bus station here until about six months ago.

The son of T.A. Davis and Dora Riggs Davis, he was born July 6, 1903 in Wildersville, Tenn.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Steele on May 12, with Mason Harris officiating.

He leaves his wife, Jewell Davis of the home; three sons, Virgil Arthur and Terry Davis of Steele; and Larry Davis of Memphis; two daughters, Angela and Julie, both of Steele; two sisters, Mrs. C.S. Allbritton of Steele, and Mrs. Lester Woods of Portageville; and four grandchildren.

Pall bearers were Connie Frame, Clark Frame, Vernon Crews, Reginald Watkins, Harvel Davis, and James Ashcraft.

Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with the German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
