Jerry O'Neil Hicks, 75, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015, at his home in Steele. He was born in Holland on Aug. 23, 1939, to the late Lottie and Goldie Hicks. He was united in marriage to Doris Hopgood on Sept. 11, 1959, in Steele. He was a retired truck driver, was of the Baptist faith and served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alma Jo Burdine, and one brother, Donnie Hicks.
Survivors of Mr. Hicks include his wife, Doris; one daughter, Shana Morales, and her husband, Mario; one granddaughter, Danielle Parry and her husband, Johnny; two sisters, Doris Wilkins and Connie Johns; two brothers, Jimmy Hicks and Gary Wayne Hicks; two grandsons, Zachary Martinez and Jeremy Hatley; two great-granddaughters, Aeriona Parry and Ambria Hatley; two great-grandsons, Landon and Jaxon Parry; one brother-in-law, Jerry Hopgood, and his wife, Nancy, and one sister-in-law, Diane Hicks.
Funeral services for Mr. Hicks were held Friday, June 19 at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Bro. Michael Funderburk officiating. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeremy Hatley, Johnny Parry, Zachary Morales, Mario Morales, Johnny Galbraith and Kerry Don Hicks.
John W German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of arrangements.
