Nona Hicks, 89, died Oct. 20, 2002 in Chester, Ill., at the St. Mary's Healthcare Center.
Born May 26, 1913 in Holland to the late Henry and Eva Tuberville Jackson, she was united in marriage to Clarence Hicks Oct. 4, 1930 in Blytheville. He preceded her in death. She was a member of the Church of Christ, a homemaker, and a mother of 11.
Survivors include five sons, Floyd Hicks of Bowling Green, Ky., Bob Hicks of Oakdale, Ill., Thomas Hicks of Prairie Du Rocner, Ill., Don Hicks of Bowling Green and Jeff Hicks of Red Bud, Ill.; five daughters, Necie Sneed of Red Bud, Ill., Mary Jane Nobel of Farmington, Mo., Frances Powell of Steele, Brenda Davis of Perryville, Mo. and Linda Davis of Bowling Green; one sister, Mable Bray of St. Peters, Mo.; 32 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and 17 great-greeat-grandchildren.
Services were held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Joe Spangler officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele. Pallbearers were Roger Powell, Chris Davis, Ben Davis, Bobby Gene Hicks, Reggie Hicks, Timmy Hicks and Keith Hicks. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Bray and Jeremy Hicks. The John W. German Funeral Home of Steele was in charge of services.

Funeral services for Clarence Floyd Hicks were held Thursday, May 16, 1974 at 1:00 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home in Steele with Mr. Franklin Williams officiating.

Born February 9, 1912, at Holland, Mr. Hicks died May 14, 1974, at Washington County Memorial Hospital in Nashville, Ill., at the age of 62. He was the son of the late James Thomas and Mary Jane Camp Hicks.

Mr. Hicks was employed by Bemis Bag Co., until he retired because of poor health. He was married to Nona Jackson at Blytheville October 4, 1930, and was the father of 11 children. A son, Clarence Elbert, preceded him in death.

He leaves his widow, Nona Hicks, Ashley, Ill.; five sons, Floyd Hicks, Ashley, Ill., Bobby Hicks, Nashville, Ill., Thomas Hicks, Red Bud, Ill., Donald Hicks, Cahokia, Ill., and Jeffery Hicks, Cottage Hills, Ill.; five daughters: Necie Sneed, Red Bud, Mary Jane Noble, Farmington, Frances Powell, Steele, Brenda Davis, Perryville, Mo., and Linda Davis, Waterloo, Ill.; his mother, Frances Hicks, Rives; one sister, Net Barnes, St. Louis; two step-brothers, two half-brothers, one step-sister, five half sisters, 26 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Interment was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Randal Scott, Charlie Scott, Jerry Bray, Ralph King, Lannie Staggs and Gary Hicks.
