Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie Alberta Hicks was conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Darnell officiating. Burial was in the Number Eight Cemetery. Jimmy Osburn Funeral Home, Wardell, was in charge of arrangements.
The daughter of the late Leslie and Mary Melinda Lee, Mrs. Hicks was born July 10, 1905 in Tyronze, Ark. On July 15, 1939, in Caruthersville she was married to George Malcolm Hicks. She died at her home in Wardell at the age of 72.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Virginia Reed Riney of Caruthersville, Mrs. Nina Youngblood of Hot Springs, Ark., Mrs. Neva Barfoot of Orange Park, Florida, Mrs. Nona McMillan of West Memphis, Ark., Mrs. Carolyn Trimune of Blytheville, Ark. Three stepsons, Charles Hicks of Phenix City, Ala., Ralph Hicks of Blytheville, Ark., Calvin Hicks of Phoenix City, Ala. One brother, Telbert Lee of Liberty, Mo., fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death in June, 1976.
Pallbearers were Don Boatright, Sonny Glisson, Gene Young, John Gribble, James Thomas, and Murrie Alderson.
