Beaumont Smith, 74, of Steele, died Dec. 27, 1987 at his home. Born Jan. 29, 1913 in Covington, Tenn., he was the son of Gracie and Nancy Huffman Smith. He was a retired cotton ginner, having worked in Israel, the Dominican Republic and in this area. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Steele and Masonic Lodge 461, AF&AM, of Caruthersville.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Juliette Frank Smith of Steele; One son, Tommy Smith of Olathe, Kansas; One daughter, Mrs. Nancy Grissom of Gidion; One sister, Mrs. Marvin Hill of Brighton, Tenn. One brother, Sam Smith of Huntsville, Ala.; And four grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. at John W. German Funeral Home chapel in Steele, the Rev. Gene Edwards and the Rev. James F. McCrary officiating, with burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Pinnell and Thor Capehart, John Smith, June Wallace, Joe Saliba and Herman Via.
Honorary pallbearers were Don Watson, Claude Samford, Andrew Jenkins, Woodrow Davis, Herbert Ketchum and Arthur Bynum and Lewis Hester.

Juliette Smith, 82, of Steele, Mo., died Monday, March 22, 1999 at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
Born January 20, 1917 in Steele, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Serena Funderburk Frank.
Juliette was united in marriage to Beaumont Smith on July 11 1937 in Marion, Ark. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1987.
A member of the First Baptist Church in Steele, she taught school at South Pemiscot Elementary until her retirement in 1971.
Mrs. Smith leaves a son, Tony Smith of Kansas City, Mo.; A daughter, Nancy Grissom, of Gideon, Mo.; Two sisters: Gladys Lawrence of Steele and Evelyn Sloan of Carthage, Tenn.; Four grandchildren; Eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 25, 1999 at the First Baptist Church in Steele with Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
