Funeral services for Eugene Preston Jones were held Thursday, May 19, at 2:00 p.m. at the German-Aumon Funeral Home Chapel in Steele. Rev. Charles Faught officiated.
Mr. Jones was born April 3, 1918, in Gosnell and died May 17, 1983 at the Baptist Hospital in Memphis. He was 65.
He leaves his wife, Minnie Jones, of the home; Five daughters: Ann Morgan, Ester Lee Jones, Donna Faye Thomas, all of Steele; Brenda Joyce Riley of Albany, Georgia; and Scarlett Richardson of Gosnell; Five sons: Tom Jones, Eugene Jones Jr., Hoyt Mason Jones, all of Steele; Paul Jones of Holland; and Glenn Woodword; Three sisters: Letha Simmons of Florida; Buelah Gaare of California; and Mergie Gestring of Steele; One brother: Mason Jones of Manila; and Twenty-two grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Cecil Riley, Donnie Riley, Henry Boren, Junior Atkins, Bud Davis, and James Brown.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele with the German-Aumon Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
