Claude Jones, formerly of this community, but more recently of Memphis, died at Methodist Hospital in Memphis Tuesday, November 12, 1968.
Mr. Jones was born February 5, 1897. He was 71.
Funeral service was conducted at the Methodist Church in Steele November 14 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Charles Miller and Rev. Marvin Niblack officiated.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, German Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Zela Ester Kendrick Jones, on December 22, 1941.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lena Bass Jones; three daughters, Mrs. I.L. Vaughn, Memphis; Mrs. Duke Still, Steele, and Mrs. Lester D. Cecil, Memphis; a son, W.D. Jones of Lake Village, Ark.; two step-children, Bryan Harris, Memphis, and Mrs. Betty Fischer, South Haven, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Ollie Wingfield, Steele; Mrs. Ruth Allen, Gurdon, Ark.; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jones was a brother of the late W.I. Jones and the late L.N. Jones. He was also a brother to the late Mrs. Trudy Gathwright, the late Mrs. Lottie Clark and the late Mrs. Mary Wingfield.
