Funeral services for James Albert Jones, a retired farmer, were held Wednesday, September 30, at the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele. Rev. Paul York officiated.
Mr. Jones was born April 13, 1889 in Humphreys County, Tennessee, and died September 28, 1981 at the Chickasawba Hospital in Blytheville. He was 92.
The son of the late Eugene and Gertrude Shelton Jones, he was united in marriage to Ida M. Rachels September 9, 1912 in Holland. Mrs. Jones preceded him in death May 21, 1973.
He leaves two sons, Clarence Jones of Plymouth, Florida and Robert Jones of St. Petersburg, Florida; three daughters, Mrs. Andrew Jenkins of Steele, Mrs. Irene Umbach of Springville, Tennessee and Miss Louise Jones of Steele; one step-daughter, Mrs. Gladys McArthur of Holland; two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Samford of Steele, and Mrs. Beatrice Ellis of Steele; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Eugene Samford, F.H. Samford, V. M. (Bub) Jones, Larry Paul Jones, Mervel Jones and Kenneth Ellis.
Burial was in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Steele with the John W. German Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Ida M. Jones, wife of Mr. J.A. Jones, died May 21, 1973 at the Doctors' Hospital in Blytheville. Born September 24, 1889 at Griffin, Indiana, the daughter of the late John and Nancy Rachels, she was 83 years old.
She was married to J.A. Jones at Holland September 9, 1912.
Mrs. Jones leaves her widower, Mr. Jones of Steele; two sons, Clarence Jones of Plymouth, Fla., and Robert Jones of West Memphis; three daughters, Mrs. Andrew Jenkins and Miss Louise Jones of Steele, and Mrs. Irene Umbach of Paris, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 23, 1973 at 3:00 p.m. in the John W. German Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Mr. Joe McGee officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Steele with John W. German Funeral Home of Steele in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Eugene Samford, Joe Samford, Vernon (Bub) Jones, Larry Paul Jones, Mervel Jones and Kenneth Ellis.
